Project Statement:

Petal and Print reflects my deep connection to nature and the places that hold personal meaning to me. Each piece begins with a mindful process of gathering foliage and botanical materials from landscapes that I have an emotional connection to — places that tell stories of time, memory, and belonging. Each length of fabric is inspired by a mixture of Apollo Bay, Home, and Brunswick — three places that hold a special significance in my life and continue to influence my creative practice. Through eco-printing, natural dyeing, and weaving, I translate these natural elements into textiles that capture their essence in colour, texture, and form. Every mark, stain, and imprint becomes a trace of a fleeting moment, preserving the beauty of nature’s imperfections within the fabric. This body of work encourages a slower, more thoughtful way of making and seeing — one that values sustainability, care, and the rhythms of the natural world. My practice celebrates the handcrafted and the imperfect, honouring the intimate relationship between maker and material, and the quiet dialogue that unfolds between human hands and the environment
